The Planning Process
MacKenzie Webb Associates Ltd
We follow a structured, proven planning process designed to deliver the highest standard of advice.
We all have very busy lives; therefore, our main focus is to build a trusting relationship and provide solutions to your needs, so that you have confidence that your finances are in safe hands.
1: Initial Meeting
1: Initial Meeting
Our first meeting will usually take around 60 minutes. It is entirely at our expense, and you are not obligated to continue with our financial advice if you decide not to proceed further. This meeting will allow you to tell us about your aims and financial objectives, the things that are important to you, and what you want from a financial adviser.
We will ask you for a brief overview of your personal situation and for details of your current financial arrangements, to establish whether we can be of service to you. If we believe we can deliver value for money, we will explain how we can help you and what we charge for our services. Following our initial meeting, we will give you time to decide whether to use our services. If you choose to proceed, we will move on to the next stage of data gathering.
2: Data Gathering
2: Data Gathering
We will need to gather as much information as possible about your current financial arrangements, personal circumstances, and your attitude to investment risk. This often involves contacting the providers of any existing plans, accounts, and policies you may have to obtain up-to-date information, including valuations, benefits, terms, and conditions. This stage typically involves a client meeting, and we recommend allocating up to two hours for data gathering.
2: Research
3: Research
We will undertake detailed analysis of the information gathered to establish the suitability of your existing financial arrangements, identify any shortfalls in your plans, assess the investment performance and asset allocation, to confirm whether this is appropriate given your attitude to risk. As part of this process, we will consider taxation and other implications before making alterations to your existing arrangements to ensure these are appropriate.
2: Financial Planning
4: Financial Planning
We will design a Financial Plan that is tailored to your specific requirements, financial objectives, and current situation. This will include our recommendations, based on the following factors:
All details were discussed and agreed upon at the initial meeting, including all information from the data gathering meeting, completed research, tax planning efficiencies and costs involved.
2: Implementation
5: Implementation
We will provide a clear view of how effectively your current arrangements are leading you towards the financial goals and lifestyle you wish to achieve. We will present our recommendations for making changes to your existing arrangements, designed to improve the probability of achieving your goals. We will also present our proposals for any new products that we recommend be considered to help achieve your financial objectives.
If you accept our recommendations, we will complete any application forms and arrange the new product from application to implementation, including completing trust deeds and the investment of funds where appropriate. We will provide you with a report that confirms the recommendations and includes details of any products being arranged. This is a valuable reminder of what was discussed and why the recommendations were made.
2: Review
6: Review
The financial planning process is not a ‘one-off’ event. It is important that we review your Financial Plan at least annually. This review aims to ensure that your plans stay on track and are still relevant following any changes in your personal circumstances.
If you have chosen to receive our ongoing service, we will complete an annual performance review of your financial arrangements and issue a report that includes any recommended changes.
